Why I Didn't Post All Week:

I was sick. That's pretty much it.

Oh, I did tour the Cadbury Factory on Thursday. That was quite cool.

More on the sick week: "ohmigosh I ate almost an entire thing of choc chip biscuits from Coupland's today (there were 12, I ate 8 of them, holy crap) because they were SO GOOD. I got an appointment at the health centre on Wednesday, though I'm feeling a bit better at the moment. My flat actually cooked together today! That mostly meant I cooked for them. However we used my potatoes, and the boys' chicken and frozen veges. It was pretty good! I managed to bake the potatoes perfectly (at least for me)! Delicious. Amber, Helen, and I met about car buying. Kate is out (her parents won't let her). We are looking for a fourth person and potentially a fifth. We asked Alex Garett, he is considering it, and I messaged Becky about it. We'll see. We don't want to spend more than $300."

And: "In my tutorial that I had at 3 I believe I was the only non-Kiwi student. The tutor kept asking about things in Kiwi culture, and I couldn't really add anything except I've noticed it's quite similar to US culture in many ways, expected gender roles included (this was a gender studies tut). I had an opportunity to go bouldering at Long Beach today, but then I remembered how I have a cold, and I'm still sore from the mountain, plus the guy said I'd need a head torch (aka a flashlight strapped to the head) because of course it would actually be dark by the time they got there. So I thought, maybe another time. Or during the day. Or something. Both Becky and Karin are in on a car, and I found a good possibility through the tramping club. I haven't done much this evening - staying warm, reading for anthro tomorrow, tracking down who ate my shit (no real luck on that, seems no one remembers doing it which means someone may have done it drunk, which is still no excuse). Watching some great TV... (you know, like Beauty and the Geek lol), writing some postcards. Basically taking it easy. I want to get better as soon as possible. Oh right, a couple things I keep forgetting to tell you (because they're general and not that relevant to my day usually):
I CANNOT ESCAPE that "I Kissed a Girl" song, it's quite popular here. The terrible thing is it's damn catchy, and so now I kind of like it. ARGH!
We don't have squirrels here on campus (there are probably some in NZ but I dunno), so that is different from W&M. However, we have seagulls which serve the same purpose: being really unafraid of people and being EVERYWHERE. Actually the seagulls will sometimes puff themselves up and try to threaten you. They're a different kind of seagull than we have over on the Atlantic. The noise they make is a bit different, too. I think their beaks and feet are more orange or something. That's my scientific analysis."

Also: "I had a $3 lunch today, it was a cup of soup which had carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, and other substances in it (barley? green beans?) anyway it was DELICIOUS and just what the doctor ordered (well actually he just ordered me to take paracetamol regularly, which is tylenol btw). also there was an amazing warm roll, a bit o pasta, and the delicious apple crumble that they seem to always have for dessert. They give you SO MUCH of it and I ate everything on my plate cuz it was so good. I went into the health centre and was diagnosed with a head cold. the guy was like, make sure you come in if you're coughing up nasty green stuff. well i realized ive been coughing up stuff but swallowing it so i didnt know what color it is. i spat some out and lo and behold it's green so i called my mom and she suggested i take antibiotics i already have, which seems to me a good idea because green mucus means infection. i would have just gone back in but that's a bit embarrassing plus the wait for appointments is long. so i will go back if i don't start feeling better soon. need to rest up and drink fluids. i can no longer breathe out my nose. very unpleasant. it's all stoppy head junk though, the rest of me feels fine (normal appetite and all). i did get a "long white cloud" hoodie btw. and my 18+ card! (the letter with it says "consumption of alcohol is a privilege and a pleasure") and some new postcards to send. My passport can now stay locked away in a safe place yay! My throat kind of hurts too :( I think I will go begin baking a potato for dinner. Was going to go to juggling club but I believe I'll nap instead after dinner until I need to meet people about the car at 8. I may be doing a Cadbury factory tour tomorrow. Sweet as! Hopefully I won't feel so shit as soon. (yes, you can make phrases like that, you can add anything to "as" really and make it a little phrase which is similar to saying "that's x" in US or something. I've heard Kiwis do it.) I went to class today though I felt while there it was quite a mistake (I can't breathe thru nose, have to blow my nose every few seconds, ugh). Had to get more Kleenex as well."

And finally, the Cadbury tour: "I did the Cadbury tour today and that was cool, got some free chocolates and also bought some chocolate. There was a chocolate waterfall. Wee! Then I came back home and went back to sleep until 7 (the tour went late and so I couldn't do the psych study I was going to do). Then I got up and had dinner, then went to Karin's and played Wii Mario Kart for a while (it was me, Karin, Stacy, and Gavin). Then we watched an episode of the L Word then an episode of Kenny Vs. Spenny which Gavin loaded from TV Links because it's a Canadian show. Also it's a really stupid show. Anyway, I do think I will go to Te Anau tomorrow. The bus leaves at 1:55. I just need to pack and stuff."
